Auckland's gay and bisexual 'bear' bar will support Daffodil Day by giving 50 cents from each drink sold this evening towards Prostate Cancer. “We have been collecting money for Prostate Cancer through various events this year and we feel passionate that URGE should continue to contribute to help defeat one of the biggest killers of men in this country,” says Urge bar co-owner Alan Granville. One in three New Zealanders will be affected by cancer. Daffodil Day is the New Zealand Cancer Society's major appeal to raise funds to help those affected by cancer and has been in New Zealand for 15 years. Over 7,000 volunteers are taking to the streets in force today to sell daffodils. “We know so many people who have been affected by cancer that we want to help in any way we can," says Granville. The Karangahape Road bar is also looking for gay men to participate in “Mo-vember” this year. Anyone interested in growing a moustache for November's Prostate Cancer appeal should contact the bar via email: urgebar@ihug.co.nz. Urge, at 490 K' Road, will be open from 9pm this evening.
