Gay MPs cut Wellington Proud '07 ribbon

Sun 5 Aug 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

Proud '07, Wellington's queer pride week kicked off with the 'High School Prom' queer ball at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor in central Wellington last night. Over 100 people dressed to the nines and partied into the night before heading to either the official after party at Imerst or Sub Nine's third FAG party which had more than double the numbers of the previous party, say organisers. At 8:45pm, Labour's Out MPs Tim Barnett and Maryan Street cut the ribbon and declared Proud '07 open. Awards were given out on the night with Jaimie and Olivia taking hottest couple in their matching baby blue outfits with Scott McDonald being crowned prom king and Laressa Donaldson the prom queen, while Lady Trenyce took the belle of the ball with her stunning peacock-inspired outfit. Wellington Proud '07 continues all this week with a large number of events. Details can be found in the GayNZ.com events guide.
