The scene: A packed stadium for an international rugby event. A scrum ensues, but the players are more interested in each other than the ball… On billboards around London, a French tourism ad designed to attract visitors to Paris – The City of Love –shows pashing rugby players. The official French tourism website, C'est So Paris, notes that the "ad uses offbeat wit and the Rugby World Cup to show the world that Paris is also the capital of humour.” The campaign has captured the attention of worldwide media this week, with Paris Regional Tourism Board spokesman Francois Navarro saying the reaction to the ad has been very good. "People are smiling when they see the ad and the gay community is very happy with it," he said. Because of the success of the campaign, the image will be used for another campaign in September, closer to the World Cup games. Here in New Zealand, The Christchurch Press sought comment on the campaign from former All Black and Canterbury captain Todd Blackadder. "It just shows how tight front rows are. It's obviously a bit of tongue in cheek – actually, it's a lot of tongues in cheeks,” he quipped. Download a desktop wallpaper of the image on the top link below.
