Buffy, Bimbo and Queenie return to Europe

Fri 6 Jul 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

New Zealand's iconic drag triple of Buffy, Bimbo and Queenie Aotearoa (or BBQ as they are affectionately known) are about to leave for a three week European adventure to revisit some of their most memorable venues. Buffy and Bimbo, with a visit by Queenie, worked for 18 months in Spain and England during 2005/2006. The trio leave early August for a two week visit to England and Spain. Buffy and Bimbo continue to Prague in the Chez Republic for a one night performance whilst Queenie makes a side-trip to Amsterdam and Paris. One of the highlights of the European visit for Buffy and Bimbo will be performing at their favourite pub in Aylesbury, Bucks. The Saracens Pub was their second home whilst living in England last year. “Showcasing our sister Queenie will be so exciting, they will love her” says Buffy. The Saracens is holding a Summer Rooftop Extravaganza weekend to celebrate Buffy and Bimbo's return. Naturally there is a nostalgic visit to what was their own venue just south of Valencia, Spain where Buffy and Bimbo performed each weekend. “Shame all the sailors will have left” Bimbo giggles. Queenie performed with the girls in Spain so this will also be a special visit for her. “It was an amazing time in my career, performing with Buffy and Bimbo in Spain. Who would ever think that the three of us would be back performing together in Europe?” The girls return to New Zealand in early September to prepare for their Christmas Xmas cabaret season and charity pageant ‘Queen of the Whole Universe'.     Ref: Buffy and Bimbo (m)
