Carmen hospitalised but out of danger

Fri 6 Jul 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

Wellington transsexual icon Carmen, now resident in Sydney, has been rushed to hospital after collapsing from a diabetic attack. Carmen, who has been a fixture on the Kings Cross scene for several decades, was at first reported to have yesterday suffered a major heart attack. But St Vincent's Hospital staff have confirmed to close friends of the aging one-time Wellington mayoral candidate that her diabetes caused the problem. She is reported to no longer be in danger, but will be kept in hospital for several days for stabilisation and observation.     Ref: GayNZ.com (j)
