A Sydney Mardi Gras favourite drag diva is now in Wellington, and will perform a one-off show at Imerst nightclub tonight. ‘Joyce Maynge', who describes herself as “a respectable housewife”, has led floats in Sydney‘s Mardi Gras Parade for the last few years, and describes her inspirations as Madonna and Paris Hilton. Her short film ‘In Bed With Joyce' will screen just before her 2am show with Lady Trenyce and Sasha Frieze. The film is a raunchy two-minute romp between Maynge and her diminutive bus driver husband Murray, with only strategic camera angles protecting their modesty. “It was a Paris Hilton-style film and we thought we'd get a bit experimental and try a few different things,” Maynge's alter ego Shane Pascoe told the Sydney Star Observer when the film was first shown. “It's a two-minute film with about 90 minutes of bonus features,” he teases. The Imerst team has also announced a ‘White Out' party for next Saturday night – 7th June. “With our new lighting, dancing go-go boys in cages, stunning set design, prolific DJ's, and a 6am license, it's set to be the gayest dance party of the year and you will be blown away,” they say.
