Oliver Hall to leave

Mon 18 Jun 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

12:30PM: In an email to his contributors, New Zealand’s LGBT newspaper editor Oliver Hall has revealed he is leaving his full-time position with the fortnightly publication. Hall has been the newspaper’s editor since November 2003. His role has recently been under the scrutiny of TVNZ cameras filming new late-night TV2 LGBT programme ‘The Outlook’, scheduled for broadcast later this month. “I depart today for a (nearly) three-week holiday in Perth and then return for my final issue of express,” he writes in the email, which was leaked to GayNZ.com. Hall says he will formally finish on the 16th of July, “but I may end up doing some contracting work after that.” During Hall’s holiday time, Nicole Thomas and Paula Yoeman will step into the editor role. An ‘out’ lesbian Aucklander, Thomas has been an Express opinion columnist for several months, and works as a publicist for TV2. Yoeman joined the newspaper’s team recently as a feature writer. Hall is so far unable to be reached for comment. Staff at Express confirmed he leaves today for Perth. Related links: www.gaynz.com/news/default.asp?dismode=article   Ref: GayNZ.com (m)
