Waikato Pride Week planned for Spring

Thu 14 Jun 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

Waikato should have its own Pride Week – that’s the consensus of a gay men’s community meeting in Hamilton. The meeting, organised by the New Zealand AIDS Foundation, was held at Venom bar on Hamilton’s Victoria Street last month. Main discussions centred around how the NZAF’s Gay Men’s Health team can have a closer relationship with gay and bisexual me in the Waikato region, and how safe sex workshops and campaigns can be made more affective. In line with the community’s wishes, Gay Men’s Heath will help organise a Pride Week in Hamilton for Spring 2007, which will endeavour to affirm safe sex messages, visibility and wellbeing for the Waikato’s gay male communities. Gay Men’s Health Hamilton can be contacted on email at contact.hamilton@nzaf.org.nz or by phone on 07 838 3557. Meanwhile, Wellington's Pride Week will take place this August. More details will be announced next week.     Ref: Gay Men's Health (m)
