Palmerston North

Fri 1 Jun 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

“Unfortunately Club Mystic had closed and will not be reopening,” says the management of the Palmerston North LGBT venue. “We had been just covering our costs for a while, but unfortunately not enough of our locals were supporting us. We had a lot of people drive up from Wellington from time to time but it wasn't enough,” says manager Tim Elliott. The venue opened last year and hosted the popular ‘Mr Gay Manawatu' pageant in March, among many other events. Elliott says he will concentrate on other business ventures for the time being, and will consider future options “in a few months' time.” Palmerston North's other LGBT nightclub, ‘Club Q' on Jersey Lane, is still open each Friday and Saturday night from 10pm until 3am.     Ref: GayNZ.com (m)
