Wellington to host transgender conference

‘Agender', New Zealand's support group for Transgender people, is holding its fifth national conference in Wellington from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd June 2007. Mayor of Wellington Kerry Prendergast will open the conference with a cocktail evening. Events planned for the weekend include a shopping expedition to Ezibuy, Willow Shoes and Shalari Lingerie, workshops, a dinner with entertainment by Gereth Farr, the Agender 2007 AGM, and a fashion parade. Endocrinologist John Delahunt, voice tutor Nerissa Moore, Jack Byrne from the Human Rights Commission, and many other speakers – including a police officer who transitioned on the job – will feature at the conference. Wellington's Portland Hotel in Thorndon will host the weekend, with a special accommodation rate of $99 per night.
