A big bear hug from Urge bar

Sun 13 May 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

Last night was another big night of raising funds for charity at Auckland's Urge bar as New Zealand's longest running gay men's bar celebrated its first ever WOOF Dance Party. The night also acted as a send-off to Mr Urge Bear 2006 Damian Calleja and this year's winner Anton Cronje as they represent New Zealand in bear events in Chicago and Melbourne. Nearly $400 was raised in a gold coin donation for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand. "We want to thank everyone who came and contributed. We are still counting all the coins!" said co-owner Alan Granville. "We also want to give a big thank you to Liam and Centurian Sauna who shouted everyone a drink to promote their new buddy nights which start on Monday, 14th May." There are two birthdays this week at the bar as Alan celebrates on Thursday, 17th May with barman Mikey reaching the grand old age of 20 on Saturday, 19th May 2007.     Ref: Urge (m)
