UK singer, DJ and gay pop culture icon Boy George arrived in Auckland on Wednesday, and has already been paparazzied – while sitting outside Ponsonby Road's mixed hangout SPQR, says his minder. Julian Haldane says he took George to SPQR for lunch. “It was funny actually, as we were sat there, George said ‘look behind you'. I turned around and there was a guy with a telescopic lens the length of my arm standing across the road. He was pointing it down the road, but every 30 seconds or so he'd point and flash it at us. We've been paparazzied!” George enjoyed their ‘Citrus Bitch ‘ cocktail, “so we had a few of those,” says Haldane. Yesterday afternoon George filmed interviews with Campbell Live and Nightline, scheduled to screen on TV3 this evening, ahead of his DJ set at Auckland's St. James Theatre tonight. The R18 event will also feature Ministry of Sound DJ's Kid Kenobi and MC Shureshock, with a heavyweight local DJ line-up. TV3's full interview with Boy George is available to view on the link below.
