A new film about the early life of gay author Augusten Burroughs screens tonight as a special fundraiser for Gayline/Lesbian line. 'Running with Scissors', starring Annette Benning, Alec Baldwin, Brian Cox and Joseph Fiennes, shows young aspiring poet Burroughs with his alcoholic father and unstable mother. When the couple divorces, he's sent off to his mother's therapist, Dr. Finch, and spends his adolescent years as a member of Finch's bizarre extended family. Neil Denney of Gayline/Lesbian line says there's been a ‘last minute rush' on seats for tonight's premeire, but there are around 20 over the 109 seats still available. The premier screening is tonight at 8.30pm, at Auckland's Rialto Cinema in Newmaket. Tickets are $20, with a complimentary glass of wine served on entry. Gayline/Lesbianline provides support, information and counselling to gay and lesbian people and their significant others through their telephone counselling service, face-to-face counselling, referral and support groups. The film will be released at Rialto Cinemas across the New Zealand on 1st March.
