Wed 14 Feb 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

Andre Gilling, 17, and Ashley Benjamin Arnopp, 20 appeared in the Palmerston North District Court yesterday, accused of murdering local gay man Stanley Waipouri late last year. The two unemployed men were sworn at from the public gallery, reports the Manawatu Standard. "F––– bitches," was among the obscenities yelled out as the men were led back into custody. The body of Mr Waipouri, 39, was found in his Rangitikei Street flat on 23 December. Close friend of Mr Waipouri, Danny Delamere, remembers Stan as a “Jack of all Trades and a Master of None. He acquired his skills from the school of hard-knocks, which enabled him to be a valued friend.” In their brief court appearance, the two men were remanded in custody until March 20 for a pre-depositions hearing. The two men accused of murdering him also face other, unrelated charges: Arnopp is charged with disorderly behaviour, common assault and breaching court orders, and Gilling is charged with two counts of common assault, theft from a car and wilful damage.     Ref: Manawatu Standard, GayNZ.com (m)
