Rainbow Labour MP Chris Carter and partner Peter Kaiser celebrated their joint ‘stag party' in their Te Atatu South home last night, an event kept under wraps from media attention. Party guest Nick Keegan says around fifty close friends of the couple attended, with many of Carter's current and former staff members there, but no MPs or media present. Invites sent out described the event as 'Exclusively gay'. Cocktails and nibbles were served, with ‘Hell's Pizza' available later. The celebration even featured a traditional ‘stag party' event – a show from a hired stripper, “a guy who came in with a shiny black outfit and top hat,” says Keegan. The couple's Civil Union ceremony takes place today in the Waitakere City Council offices. It's understood the event will be a private one with no media in attendance. The newly-Civil Unionised couple will have a small ‘cake cutting' ceremony at tommorow's ‘Big Gay Out' LGBT fair day in Coyle Park, Point Chevalier. The pair will also travel on Air New Zealand's ‘Pink Flight' of Fabulosity' to Sydney's Mardi Gras party on 2nd March. All of us here at GayNZ.com send Chris Carter and Peter Kaiser our very best wishes for their special day today. Ref: GayNZ.com (m)
