The January edition of UK gay men's lifestyle magazine Attitude has not appeared, with the publisher planning to close or sell the monthly unless it can raise more funds. SMD Publishing entered talks with staff last week, explaining that it was seeking investment for the titles. "We're in the dark about what's happening while the management waits for investment," said one staff member. The move comes just two months after the closure of film magazine Hotdog, which had proved unsustainable due to low sales. Famous across the globe for its fashion reportage and photography, Attitude magazine first appeared in May 1994. Celebrities who have appeared on the cover include Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Elton John, Robbie Williams, David Beckham, Justin Timberlake, Lee Latchford-Evans, Freddie Ljungberg, Heath Ledger, George Michael, Will Young, Christina Aguilera and the Scissor Sisters. Several of these covers have been world exclusives as in the case of the December 2005 issue, which featured Elton John and David Furnish's only major joint interview about their wedding. It is also widely praised for its social journalism, the Youth Issues in particular demonstrating how much of a lifeline the magazine became to isolated LGBT youth.     Ref: Pinknews.co.uk, Media Week (m)
