Matheson's BGO 'research' claim refuted

A claim by transgender radio host Lexie Matheson that the Big Gay Out concept should not legally belong to the Hero Charitable Trust as it predates the Trust by many years has been scotched by past chairs of Hero. And those gay community organisations whom Matheson says she consulted to research that claim say they have had no contact from her. Past Hero chair Anne Speir says the Big Gay Out was "invented in a Hero meeting in 1998/99 to help plug a gap when Hero's first financial difficulties left it unable to stage the iconic Hero Parade." Speir's recollection is backed up by previous Hero chair Bruce Kilmister who says there was no Big Gay Out, "or anything like it associated with Hero," at any time until he stepped down from Hero in 1999.
