This year's HERO Festival is “Auckland's ultimate celebration of pride and ‘Polysexual' diversity,” says the official guide, released this week. The glossy, 48-page guide can now be picked up from many gay-owned and gay-friendly venues and cafes thoughout Auckland. Michael Modrich of the HERO Brand Management Group says this year's small booklet design allows festival-goers to have all the information they need in a discrete and easy ‘pocket sized' form. Kicking off with the HERO launch party at the Maritime Museum on Friday the 2nd of February, the Festival runs for three weeks, and features regular HERO events ‘The Big Gay Out' in Coyle Park, ‘The HEROic Debate', and ‘HEROic Gardens', and many new events highlighting art, photography and sport. Downtown drag diva event ‘Wigs on the Waterfront' is also included as part of this year's Festival, and as ever, the calendar of events concludes with the spectacular HERO Party on Saturday 24th February. Modrich says the party looks to be a very international affair. “Tickets have already been purchased from Berlin, Brisbane, Christchurch, Dargaville, Hamilton, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, Nelson, New Plymouth, San Diego, Sydney, Takaka, Tauranga, Upper Hutt and Wellington,” he reveals. Limited ‘early bird' tickets for the HERO Party are available now for $29.90 (+ booking fee) – a substantial saving from the full price of ($69.90 (+ booking fee). Tickets can be purchased from the St James, Real Groovy, DJ Station, Marvel Menswear and the Women's Bookshop, or online – follow the link below for more details and event dates. Ref: GayNZ.com (m)
