Maori TV's Takataapui programme has had to create a few new Maori terms to cover some aspects of contemporary of gay, lesbian and transgendered life. Words for many of the concepts associated with glbt life today simply did not exist way back when. Here are just a few of the words created by Takataapui to enable them to communicate gay, lesbian and transgendered life in New Zealand to a Maori-speaking audience.
