Youth Hui's busy schedule announced

A busy weekend is planned for more than 50 young LBGT community leaders, and there's still time to register to join them. Nathan Brown, project coordinator for the Out There LGBT youth development project, has revealed the schedule of activities for the Kaha Queer Youth Hui, to be held 26-28 January in Wellington's Te Ranga Marae. Friday 26th January will be Queer Youth Group Facilitator Training Day, with workshops throughout the day discussing issues and building useful skills for anyone who already is - or is wanting to - set-up, run, or facilitate a group of any sort for queer youth. Boundaries and ethics, drug and alcohol issues, transgender and Maori inclusivity, and strategies for the future of youth work are among the topics to be discussed. The main hui event will begin with a powhiri at around 5pm on Friday, and will run through to 2pm on Sunday January 28 on the Marae.
