Terrifying sex attack on Wellington man

Tue 2 Jan 2007 In: New Zealand Daily News

Wellington police are hunting a man who subjected another man to a "prolonged and terrifying" sexual assault early on New Year's Day. Detective Sergeant Zane Smith said the offender approached the 21-year-old man in the Riddiford St shopping area in the Wellington suburb of Newtown. The victim told police he was threatened with a weapon and forced into a secluded car parking area nearby. He was then subject to a prolonged and terrifying sexual assault, Mr Smith said. The attacker is described as a solidly-built Maori in his mid 20s to early 30s. He is about 1.8 metres tall with a tattoo on his chin. He was wearing a green ‘50 Cent' rapper hooded sweatshirt, faded black baggy jeans and red and white sneakers. Police want to speak to anyone who was in the Newtown shops area between 2am and 3.30am yesterday.      Ref: NZPA (m)
