Kiriwai Lesbian Summercamp is planned from the 3rd until the 7th of January, near the native bush and wild ocean of Palliser Bay, Kiriwai in the lower North Island. The last lesbian summer camp at Kiriwai was over the Millennium. Organiser Aggie Jakubska says activities planned include “flax weaving, stone carving, Healing energy work, Prehistoric Goddess art, Psychodrama, or just chilling”. Half an hour south of Featherston, Palliser Bay is one of the more remote places at the southern tip of the North Island. Historic and scenic attractions include a lighthouse, prehistoric stone walls and the Pinnacles. Other attractions include vineyards, craft shops, fishing village, a golf course, and the Wairarapa gardens, open to the public. The lesbian summer camp site overlooks Lake Onoke and the wild ocean, 32K down Western Lake Road from Featherston. Cost to be involved in the camp's activities and communal food is only $5 per day. Last minute bookings are welcome but essential, says Jakubska. Phone Marlis on 06 307 7879 or email aggiejak@hotmail.com to book and for more information. Ref: Divaweb, GayNZ.com (m)
