Last weekend's ‘Queen of the Whole Universe' pageant raised approximately $23,000 for the New Zealand AIDS Foundation. What is surely becoming a highlight on the Auckland event calendar did not disappoint, when 34 ‘girls' and 4 ‘muscle boys' hit the stage last Friday night in this years Queen of the Whole Universe - a very queer beauty pageant. A night of uplifting music, high camp humour, mosaic colour and dubious fashion saw the crowning of Miss Mexico, Gemyma Rakas Rrrrr Hugio as the overall winner closely followed by Miss France, Miss Fanny Touloose placed 2nd, Miss Scotland, Bonnie McMuff appointed 3rd and Miss Greece, Miss Olympia Stadium awarded 4th. Special awards were presented to: Miss Tahiti, Miss Jan Dal as Miss Purfex Pins and Needles. Miss Argentina, Iva P'rong as Miss Durex Congeniality. Muscle Boy Two, Ab Flex as Mr MSD Toned and Miss Italy, Hellana Diavola Rossi, GABA Beauty with a Purpose for her topical statement about the Auckland stadium. Special thanks must go to the cast and crew of 140, the sponsors and audience for their support, says organiser Jonathan Smith. “Queen of the Whole Universe will explode back on stage at the Aotea Centre on Friday 30 November 2007,” he reveals.     Ref: Eventimento (m)
