The Waikato's Miss Gloriousole is pleased to announce a new LGBT club for Hamilton. Opening on the 14th of December, ‘Venom' will be the first-ever Victoria Street gay venue - right in the heart of Hamilton's clubland. Miss Gloriousole, AKA Dennis Ralph, will be the resident drag diva, and Nicholas, who was well-known in Auckland from 2001 to last year as manager of Flesh nightclub, will manage the new bar. The opening night is for invited guests, celebrating the new venue with shows from local drag performers and friends. “Plans are for live stand up comedy nights, jazz on Sunday afternoons, as well as a variety of 'gay' styled entertainment,” Glouriousole reveals. Future shows need to be negotiated with the 'Venom' production team. Performers and DJ's should apply by email to gloriousole2006@hotmail.com. Hamilton's Next Door Bar, a local gay mainstay for 15 years, is still scheduled to reopen, and the new venue is seen as growing the Hamilton Gay Community. “It's about time Hamilton joined its big-city sisters in providing a main street gay venue, and we hope it will draw patrons not only from the Waikato, but the Bay of Plenty and Southern provinces,” says Gloriousole. ‘Venom', opening Thursday 14th December, Lounge Bar and Night Club 161 Victoria St Hamilton Ref: GayNZ.com (m)
