Elton John TradeMe auction hits $9,950

Sat 18 Nov 2006 In: New Zealand Daily News

After only three days on TradeMe, bidding for the exclusive meet and greet with Sir Elton John at the Wellington Concert has hit $9,950 and looks like climbing a lot higher. Closing on 9pm on Tuesday, the NZ AIDS Foundation will receive 100% of the proceeds of the auction. Along with separate donations via their 0900 number, this is a unique and very welcomed opportunity to raise money for an organisation Sir Elton is passionate about. The online event has been organised by VISA, Capital C: Concerts and TradeMe with the support of the Intercontinental Hotel Wellington. With just under three weeks remaining to Concert date on 6 December at Wellington's Westpac Stadium, over 30,000 seats have been sold. Seats are still available across a range of zones, and promoter Capital C: Events will release additional seats this week.     Ref: Capital Concerts, GayNZ.com (m)
