Kiwi Boyband tops singles chart

Tue 10 Oct 2006 In: New Zealand Daily News

Boy Band's first single ‘You Really Got Me' has debuted on the New Zealand music charts at number one following an extensive nationwide promotional trip. Rob Arnold, 24, from Wellington features as the Gay Boy in the quintet. It's the first time that a boy band featuring an openly gay member has hit the top of the charts with their debut single. Arnold tells GayNZ.com he's over the moon to be top of the charts. “It's unbelievable, it's so hard to explain how I feel. Dannii Minogue hasn't even been number one in New Zealand, and she's a huge star.” The Boy Band single beat Justin Timberlake's ‘SexyBack' and last week's number one Fergie's ‘London Bridge' to the chart's top spot. Arnold says girlband TruBliss got two weeks at number one in 1999, “so we're hoping to top that!”     Ref: GayNZ.com (m)
