Los Angeles lesbian drama series The L Word is on its way to primetime New Zealand television, and the Sky-owned Prime channel are giving it star treatment. ‘Coming soon' billboards for the show are already up, and a radio advertising campaign is planned, Prime TV publicist Helen Badger tells GayNZ.com. “We're running the first two seasons first, for the people who missed them,” explains Badger. TV2 has already shown those episodes in a late-night time slot of 11.30pm, and is currently repeating those episodes at 2.40am on Tuesday mornings. Prime bought the rights to play the series, but had to wait until TVNZ's rights run out this month. The L Word is currently in its fourth season in the States. Prime says they've bought the rights to play all four seasons. Plans to play them from the beginning, each season back-to-back, at the rate of one episode a week, means New Zealanders will see new season three episodes not yet seen here in mid-2007. Prime also features ‘fab-fag-five' makeover show Queer Eye for a Straight Guy at 8.30pm on Wednesdays. The L Word begins Tuesday 24th October 2006, at 9.30pm on Prime.
