McNee killer's brother admits brutal rapes

Thu 13 Jul 2006 In: New Zealand Daily News

A brother of Philip Edwards, the man who repeatedly bludgeoned gay Auckland interior designer David McNee to death in 2004, has admitted 34 charges violent abduction, robbery and rapes. During one rape Frankie Edwards forced a twelve-year old girl to lie in the back seat of a car while he raped her 17 year old sister in the front seat. Younger brother Philip Edwards brutally killed David McNee with at least 40 blows to the head, later claiming that he was provoked by McNee wanting to go beyond the allegedly agreed limits of a pay-for-sex encounter. Philip Edwards had up to that time served a number of prison terms and had amassed 56 previous convictions. He is currently serving a nine year sentence for the McNee manslaughter. Frankie Edwards, 30, has sixty eight previous convictions which have landed him in custody more than a dozen times.     Ref: NZ Herald; GayNZ.com (j)
