NZAF appoints new media manager

Wed 12 Jul 2006 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The New Zealand AIDS Foundation has appointed a new media manager to ensure the HIV epidemic remains newsworthy and the safe-sex message is promoted. Chris Banks, who has worked as senior reporter with GayNZ.com for the past three years, has taken on the role as Communications Co-ordinator, recently vacated by Steve Attwood. Banks has also been a writer, director and presenter for TV2's Queer Nation and a freelance writer for the London-based Gay Times. "The AIDS Foundation has had to redouble its efforts in all areas over the last few years to ensure the safe sex message remains paramount in a time when HIV is no longer news for some," says Banks. "I look forward to continuing the solid groundwork laid by my predecessor Steve Attwood in working with media to encourage and establish good coverage of HIV, public health and human rights issues." The senior reporter staff vacancy at GayNZ.com will be advertised within a few days.     Ref: NZAF (d)
