"Safe-sex stud" Mr Gay Auckland, his deputy, and drag icon Miss Ribena, pushed the safe-sex message over the weekend with the launch of “Safe-Sex Beauties” – a new condom campaign targeting gay and bisexual men. The campaign is a community partnership between the New Zealand AIDS Foundation and Family Bar, and specifically targets Auckland, which saw 94 per cent of last year's new HIV infections. At the launch, attended by around 100 people, Rachel Le Mesurier, NZAF Executive Director, pointed out that the number of infections last year among Aucklanders represented over three-quarters of the people in the room. Te Herekiekie Herewini, NZAF's National Manager of Health Promotion, is pleased to have Miss Ribena onboard. “Having Ribena as our drag patron means that she will be pumping the safe sex message on a regular basis during the week,” he said. “This time a little bit of vanity does go a long way!” The crowd was treated to “energetic performances from Buckwheat, Miss Queenie Aotearoa, Sha'ne'ne, Miss Ribena, and Buffy    Ref: GayNZ.com (d)
