The NZ AIDS Foundation has lost another senior Head Office staff member with the departure of Communications Coordinator Steve Attwood. After two years in the role - prior to that he was the South Island health promoter for the Foundation, and before that was Communications Manager for the department of Conservation - Attwood has resigned to take a job as Media Manager for the Manukau City Council. Attwood says he has found his work with the NZAF highly rewarding but, having just turned 50 and looking to his financial security, was somewhat reluctantly lured away by the higher paying Manukau City position. The NZAF has lost a number of senior staff in recent times. Fundraising Coordinator Garreth Spillane bowed out last month after a year in that position. Longtime Administration Manager Anne Carson left in late 2004 and her replacement, Vivienne Javins, who had been with the Foundation in administration roles for almost twenty years left in February. A replacement for Attwood will not be appointed for at least two months until the return of Executive Director Rachael LeMesurier from extended leave overseas. In the meantime Chris Banks has taken leave of absence from his job as the senior news and features writer at GayNZ.com to fill in at the Foundation. Banks absence is in turn being covered by our recently appointed Wellington-based writer David Parrish.
