P-user McDonald producing gay TV

Mon 27 Feb 2006 In: New Zealand Daily News

The next series of TV2's gay ‘lifestyle' series Kiwifruits is to be produced by disgraced gay TV newsreader Darren McDonald. McDonald spectacularly fell from grace as a TV3 newsreader when he was revealed in 2003 to have had a $1000 a week methamphetamine habit and even admitted to reading the TV news while high on occasions. He was sentenced to a period of home detention for offering and conspiring to supply methamphetamine, also known as P, and ecstasy. McDonald is understood to already be working on the next series of Kiwifruits, although the first airing date is some weeks away. Both TV2 and McDonald have declined to comment to the media.     Ref: Herald on Sunday (j)
