Having participated in UK Celebrity Big Brother, actor Michael Barrymore has told the Sunday Mirror that he plans to stay in Britain, hoping to relaunch his television career there. The comedian left Britain with his partner after bad press over his homosexuality and a party which resulted in a man found dead in Barrymore's swimming pool. He has since become a New Zealand resident, and participated in theatre projects here. Barrymore has told the newspaper that although he is a resident in New Zealand, his home is in the UK where he plans to stay for Big Brother commitments and "some other things I'm working on." Before entering the Big Brother house, Barrymore feared returning to Britain, and requested extra security on his entry to the house. He also told the media at the time that he would be on the first plane back to New Zealand once voted out of Big Brother. The Sunday Mirror reports that Barrymore plans a permanent return to the UK where he hopes to have a civil union and settle down with his partner.
