The AIDS Foundation will use this year's Big Gay Out as the launch for its new campaign to get people all excited over condoms. The MSM-targeted safe sex campaign aims to eroticise the condom, and is titled Horny As. "This campaign is about trying to get men to re-think their attitude toward condoms by realising that condom sex is worry-free sex," says the Foundation's Gay Men's Health Co-ordinator, Douglas Jenking. "When you don't have to worry about HIV, you can concentrate on making sex as hot and spontaneous and as long as you like. Rather than being an interference, condoms can facilitate great sex." Male festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to participate in the Foundation's biennial Gay Men's Periodic Sex Survey (GAPSS), which gathers information crucial to understanding whether sexual practices, attitudes toward condoms, HIV testing and other sexual health issues have changed over time. This year, for the first time, the survey will also include questions on recreational drug use and sexually transmitted infections.
