Entrapment and Homophobia?

Sun 2 Jun 2002 In: Comment

Comment on the Mark Richards articles in the Sunday Star-Times 02 June 2002. The following is my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect the views of GayNZ.com or it's staff. I am not a journalist or writer by any stretch of the imagination but having read these articles 2 or 3 times trying to get my head around the philosophy of the Star-Times for intentionally setting out to entrap a gay police officer, I am still quite numb. I have to say something!! The Sunday Star-Times have taken the law into their own hands and done their own "Special Investigation". Then without any official enquiry have printed their own accusations on 1/3 of the front page and 1/2 a page inside of their so called newspaper. Is this some personal vendetta? It really scares the hell out of me. From all accounts, Mark Richards is an excellent Police Officer. What Mark does or does not do regarding sexual preferences in his personal life has nothing to do with anyone else. I make no comment as to the Amyl
