Simon Robb has resigned his position as chair of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation board, citing personal reasons. The announcement comes before the board has even had a chance to fill the seat left by the departure of Robb's predecessor, Clive Aspin, in late August. Acting chair Hoani Jeremy Lambert says the board had already begun a process of considering applicants for Aspin's position, and will now be seeking to fill both vacancies. "We're pleased to report, the number and quality of the applicants already received is such that we believe we will be able to fill both positions with highly skilled people who will have a lot to contribute," he said in a press statement today. Lambert will act as interim chair until the successful applicants are announced on 12 December, at which time a new chair and deputy chair will be elected. In an email to members, Lambert reaffirmed the board's focus on the burgeoning HIV epidemic among MSM, and said the board is focused on eliminating future disruptions in the best interests of the staff, the organisation and the fight against HIV in New Zealand.
