The glbt youth development project Out There has opened registrations for a hui to be held in Wellington next year, which will focus on the support, development and creation of leaders amongst glbt youth. Spokesperson Sarah Helm says they hope to attract a diverse range of young people of different ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations to the hui, from all around the country. "The workshops will include developing our work on safety in schools, diversity groups and HIV prevention," she says. “There will be skills-based workshops for young people who run youth groups. And we are also hoping to incorporate art, dance, theatre and sport into the programme as alternative modes of expression and ways of organising youth. So there will be a mix of fun, and serious stuff.” Helm says Out There will try and accomodate as many people as they are able to finance, expecting around 70 attendees nationally. Those interested must register before Monday 12 December, and can do by contacting Sarah Helm at Out There in Wellington on (04) 381-6640 or by email sarah.helm@nzaf.org.nz.
