Life sentence for 'Gay panic' murder

Sat 22 Oct 2005 In: New Zealand Daily News

Dickie Faisauvale has been sentenced to a 17 year minimum non-parole period for the murder of Auckland man Robert Hunt. 19 year old Faisauvale claimed that he stabbed Hunt 42 times because he feared he might be raped. The judge dismissed this claim, saying the motivation was clearly greed, as Faisauvale had stolen money and a car as he left the scene. The incident took place in July last year, after Hunt invited Dickie Faisauvale home for a meal.
