Columnist dumped for propaganda

Thu 13 Oct 2005 In: New Zealand Daily News

A columnist for the Christchurch Press has been dumped after an article she wrote had strong similarities with a right-wing propaganda speech by the head of the anti-gay, right wing Maxim Institute. Alexis Stuart, daughter of Maxim head Bruce Logan, wrote a column for the Press on 4 October titled Labour's new values a distortion of decent virtues. The article was almost word for word the same as an article her father wrote for the Northland Age. A concerned member of public complained to the Press, highlighting the column's strong Maxim Institute propaganda message, masquerading as personal opinion. The newspaper has since terminated its relationship with Stuart as a columnist.
