The managing director of the anti-gay think tank the Maxim Institute has been honoured with a Sir Peter Blake leadership award. Greg Fleming was given the award in recognition of his leadership of Maxim and his former role as managing director of Parenting With Confidence, whose chief executive Ian Grant was a signatory of an anti-civil union letter to MPs last year signed by Auckland mayor Dick Hubbard, former Air New Zealand CEO Ralph Norris and others. The Northland Age reported Maxim's board chairman Peter McNee as saying the award was a testament to Fleming's exceptional leadership qualities, and a recognition of the valuable contribution Maxim was making to discussions on the cultural and social issues facing New Zealand.
