Disgraced "moral guardian" Graham Capill will face sentence on all charges of rape and sexual assault today. While pleading guilty, his claim of being "fully repentant" took a damning blow when prosecutors presented an email from Capill to his supporters. In the email he admitted raping one of his three victims, but suggested the child was a willing participant. He also asked his friends to pray for a lenient judge. Drawing from his role as former police prosecutor, he indicated his expectations of being sent to prison for nine years, but hoped to serve only one-third of his sentence. Throughout the trial, the former Christian Heritage Party leader has presented himself as a tearful, broken man full of remorse. According to a source, Capill's email message on the eve of his guilty plea was "full of self-serving statements". Capill has pleaded guilty to molesting three girls over the span of a decade; raping one girl twice before she was twelve years old. Now in her late teens, she is understood to be very angry having learned of the consensual sex claim. Two of the girls told Capill's wife, but the police were not alerted. In February this year, when Capill was working as a police prosecutor, an Anglican vicar alerted police to allegations involving the third child, prompting the other two to again come forward.
