A Christchurch man has been charged under the Prostitution Reform Act of "endangering the life of the sex worker" by removing his condom during sex with a prostitute. The man has been fined $400 and ordered to pay an additional $130 costs. This is the first prosecution under the 'unsafe-sex' law since the act was passed in 2003. The Prostitutes Collective hope that this conviction will increase clients' awareness of their responsibilities under the law.
