Leader of the morally conservative Christian Heritage Party has spoken out about his predecessor's admitted crimes, calling Graham Capill's alleged actions the "worst form of hypocrisy you can imagine". Graham Capill has pleaded guilty to several charges, including unlawful sexual connection and rape. All offences were committed against girls under the age of 12. The new leader of the Christian Heritage Party, Ewen McQueen told TVNZ's Breakfast programme that the party's image has been damaged by Capill's sex crimes and has considered changing the party's name. However with the upcoming election, the party feels it shouldn't hide from the issue. Graham Capill's campaign as leader of the party ran between 1990 and 2003. During this time he preached that 'sexual abuse of children had to stop'. He was also known for his conservative 'family values' stance which included his damnation of gays and lesbians, calling them 'filthy', and his protests against nudity in art.
