Bookings for the third annual Gay Ski Week in Queenstown in September are pumping along, says organiser Mike Sanford, with visitors coming from the Northern Hemisphere as well as across the Tasman and up and down New Zealand. A Ski Week pass has been introduced this year for entry to all events, to cover costs as well as control numbers. "Some events will sell out," says Sanford. "We cannot guarantee door sales so we recommend for everyone to buy tickets early." Base hotel this year will be the St Moritz, with an exclusive gay bar being set aside for the week. There will be special Ski Week prices for rooms booked through the gayskiweeknz.com website, where a full calendar of events for this year is already up. There's wine tours, a dance party, and horizontal bungy action to be had – and skiing, should that take your fancy. If not, there's plenty else to do with picnics on the picturesque Coronet Peak, group dinners, and an adventure day with parabungying, skydiving, jetboat rides, and rafting.
