A Wellington-based Christian fundamentalist has run off to the police after receiving a private email from gay gender consultant Eugene Moore, which questioned the wisdom of publishing moral statements from convicted child molester and former Christian Heritage Party leader Graham Capill on his website. David Lane, who operates under the banner of numerous organisations, including the Society for the Promotion of Community Standards, the Wellington Christian Apologetics, and the Campaign Against Civil Unions, told police that Moore had violated a court suppression order that forbade members of the public from revealing the link between Capill and his victim. Moore emailed the society urging it to note that Capill had pleaded guilty to child molestation, after he found a news article on the Wellington Christian Apologetics Society website in which Capill attacked gay marriage and parenting. "The fact that a convicted paedophile is on your website offering his views on the morality of gay marriage and the safety of children in those marriages should be an enormous area of concern for you," he wrote. The alleged violation is currently being investigated, although it has already been established that Moore's identification of the connection between Capill and his victim was incorrect. Moore says he is amazed by the complaint, and the information passed on in his email was only what he'd gleaned from the media. “I don't have any inside information on this,” he said. "I certainly didn't publish it anywhere. I mean, I sent an email to an individual." The Weekend Press reports that many internet sites and weblogs were flouting the suppression of Capill's name before the order was lifted. Lane, whose Society for the Promotion of Community Standards has attempted to make links between homosexuality and paedophilia over the years, refused to talk to the media.
