Anti-lesbian poster disowned by Destiny

Fri 28 Jan 2005 In: New Zealand Daily News

A confrontational Destiny Church: vote no to lesbians: It's a sin poster placed on a Mt Albert, Auckland, home directed at lesbian neighbours could not possibly be the work of Destiny Church members according to the group's media spokesperson. "I don't believe it has happened," Janine Cardno of Destiny initially responded after the NZ Herald reported that Mt Albert lesbian Kate Simpson and her partner have to view the large poster from their kitchen window “every morning when we wake up or sit in our lounge to watch TV.” Assured by GayNZ.com that the badly spelled hand lettered poster clearly exists Cardo suggested a more complex theory: "It must be the work of non-church members, someone with some other agenda trying to stir something up... it's crazy!" Cardno says Destiny is not interested in gay and lesbian people and actions such as the un-neighbourly confrontational poster are "totally against the teachings of Pastor Brian."
