Jail march organisers says NS mayor

Thu 27 Jan 2005 In: New Zealand Daily News

Brian Tamaki and his Destiny Church hierarchy should serve lengthy jail sentences if they carry out their intention to illegally march their fundamentalist members across Auckland harbour bridge on March 5, according to North Shore's mayor. Transit NZ turned down Destiny's application saying the marchers against Civil Unions could cause damage to the bridge and the police say partial closure of the bridge would cause major traffic problems in Auckland city. North Shore mayor George Wood says he is sure that police will stop the marchers if they decide to gatecrash the bridge.
