Toni Farrow has become the first Auckland lesbian to hold the coveted title of Queen of Vinegar Hill, the popular gay camping ground in the Manawatu district. Each year, the Queen is elected by a panel of former queens who get together to decide who has done the most good works for the festival. Last year's holder of the title was Auckland electronics engineer Colin Waterhouse. Vinegar Hill enthusiast and former Queen Calum Bennachie says rain at this year's event meant a lot of time was spent playing board games. "Toni and her partner play a mean game of 'Articulate'," he says. The Queen herself, Toni, could be not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
