Gay man's body found on West Coast

Nelson police believe they have found the body of a gay Westport man who has been missing for almost five years. Bambrough disappeared after a party in Westportin late 1999. The clothed remains, believed to be James John Bambrough, 54, and nicknamed Janis, were found in a shallow grave about 30km from Westport. Police have jointly charged Nelson man Leighton Brian Wilding, 37, and Westport man Hayden Brent McKenzie, 26, with his murder. The cause of death is not evident but a post mortem examination is being carried out. Mr Bambrough's family members and a local kaumatua have visited the grave site. Nelson man Devon Paul Wilding has already admitted helping to set fire to a car to hide evidence of the alleged murder.
