Flesh temporarily relocates

Fri 31 Dec 2004 In: New Zealand Daily News

Auckland gay club Flesh, devastated by a fire earlier in the week, is keeping to its promise of being open for New Year's Eve – albeit in a new location. The proprietors of The Birdcage bar, located across the road from Victoria Park Market in Freeman's Bay, came to Flesh on Wednesday night to offer their premises as a temporary location until the club can be rebuilt. "Flesh is not closing down - we expect to re-open in three to four weeks," says resident DJ Love, "but until then we'll be at The Birdcage, and keeping the same hours as when we were at O'Connell St." So far police have uncovered no further information about the fire, which is suspected to have been deliberately lit. Flesh's New Year's Eve festivities begin tonight at The Birdcage bar from 8pm.
